Start with the door mechanics and the daily access scenario—not the product photograph.
1. Check the cylinder and door geometry
Verify cylinder type, interior key position and installation clearance. A misaligned door can strain a motorized lock. Do not buy based on a model name alone.
2. Separate local from remote connectivity
Bluetooth near-door operation and Wi-Fi remote control are not the same. Linus L2 has built-in Wi-Fi, while older models may need a bridge. Check router coverage and outages.
3. Map user permissions
Family, guests and contractors need different permissions. Identify who can issue, time-limit and revoke digital access.
4. Plan mechanical fallback
What happens when a phone, battery or network fails? Confirm emergency access and compatible cylinders before installation.
5. Verify ecosystem compatibility
Matter or other integrations do not guarantee every automation. Check hubs, apps, firmware and device support.
6. Treat accounts as security devices
Enable strong passwords, two-factor authentication, updates and timely removal of former users.
7. Test before sign-off
Check locking, invitations, connection loss, battery alerts and notifications after installation.
